Have got groove back [Apr. 19th, 2008|04:11 am]

Now need to decide on where the hell to WRITE IT. Choosing between Scrivener and Textmate (with its super-adorable, super-useful Projects function, and Markdown goodness) is haaaaard. Maybe I should plot in Scrivener, and write in Textmate?

Otherwise, though, yes, I am rewriting AST. Still. May go into more detailed reasons later on, and will probably put up appropriate notice about it on FF.net, but main thing is:
THE BACKSTORY SUCKS. It needs to be beaten with a sledgehammer.
THE PLOT MAKES NO SENSE. I need to decide on what I want to do plotwise, and stick to it.
NO END IN SIGHT. I need an ending, dammit; I need a goal to write towards, and a place to stop at.
NEW CANON. As much as I hate some things about DH, I want all of the shiny in my fic.

Current plans/structure: Two stories. First one covering Antares' first and second year at Hogwarts, and the second one covering the years after. That's about as detailed as I can get; I'll be using similar elements to what is currently in AST, AMF and AFY, but I will be changing A LOT. I'm going to leave the current stories up as they are until I'm done with the first one, and then decide on where to put what and all that. I may end up renaming the universe to something less generic and posting the new stories alongside the old, and leaving the old ones up for everyone to see.

It took a long time to get here, to a place where I can say this and feel reasonably certain that this is what I want to do, but I'm here.
