Just a status update
Here, not dead, etc. Just did some flist pruning today, so if you noticed me defriend you or whatnot, don't take it personally. I've been thinking about my spare involvement with LJ fandom lately, and just suddenly realised I was wasting my time on here*. So, new deal: news posts about my fic will be here for the time being. Everything else-- well, there wasn't really much of an anything else *left*, was there? I'll keep this journal for commenting purposes, and maybe post the news here when I write something new, but that's about it. *shoos* go back to your day, and I hope it goes as awesome as mine is right now.

* By "wasting my time", I mean just generally posting here about things neither you or I care about. I love reading what others post; I love reading essays and stuff. But I don't have any great drive to write my own, so what's left? I doubt half of you reading this can remember very clearly who I am, much less that I write (those of you who do, hey, I'm not talking to you :P) AUs that torture me in a fandom that tortures me. This IJ is going to become (for now, while I beat back my urge to move to Tumblr) what my original LJ was for: a way to maybe answer anon reviews, and keep readers up with my stories. And if you think this a bit of a dramatic way to do things, well, don't you know, that is me all over. This is just the first time I feel like I can just let go of that urge to fit in, to create somehow, even when I don't have the inclination to.

Awwww, I know who you are! And what you write! *hugs E.M.* But I know what you mean - ever since my flist split during strikethrough '07, I've been fading from LJ/IJ, and, more recently, fading from fandom too. I'm just so busy all the time, and don't have time to write, really, or even read as much as I want to. *hugs again*

*hugs you back* I can empathise with the busyness-- that's how I'm getting too, even if it's only trying to finish school that is gobbling up my time. Do you have a delicious account thingy? Because even if we can't always comment at each other, we can support each other in recs, no?

And yeah, strikethrough just kind of showed me how easy it was to walk away from an LJ. I've never really held on to fandom very strongly, so it wasn't too hard. And jesus, I think discovering the beauty of a good RSS reader dealt the death blow to my flist-following habit as well. :(

One of those del.icio.us things? Nope, I don't even know what they are, truly. I shall go google right now.

:)

Heh, you should totally get one! Not only is it a great way to bookmark stuff and access the bookmarks from anywhere you can get online from, but you can also stick people in your network and keep up with their own links. I have metafandom's delicious thing open in a tab almost constantly, for when I'm bored and/or need a hit of fannish meta-- way easier than following the comm, imho :)

*must learn more about actually using RSS readers*

Thanks so much for posting this - it's really great for me to read what people are doing with their journals (and yes, I totally know who you are) so that I can make better decisions about what to read.

RSS readers are The Shit, my friend-- especially if you follow a lot of blogs that have feeds and stuff. I use Google Reader because it has an online version I can hit up on my iphone, but there are other online and offline readers available, a lot of them free. I think Bloglines is mentioned often as being really good, so :P

And yeah, I'm glad I've come clean here XD. Hope you've had a good January-- can't believe it's over already *g*

Aww, that's too bad.... I've gone through super big cycles (I'm sure you've noticed, heh), and I'm in a rather quasi-fannish-but-still-posting-randomly mood at the moment -- I hope you get back into it, without too much other stuff getting in the way!

I think the problem with me is that I'm quite happy commenting a lot and posting fic every so often, but the two activities usually aren't on the same site, and don't include me posting other stuff. I love LJ-style commenting, but am not a huge fan of posting and maintaining fic here, so unless I want to just do a boring string of announcements (when FF.net has that nifty story alert feature), I don't really have anything in particular to post here. So when I *am* in a fannish mood, I end up commenting way, way more than posting. I'm starting to think I might just dispense with regular posting entirely and put up a sticky post that warns everyone as to what I'm doing, and then just go on from there :P
