LJ Advisory Board announcement

Lawrence Lessig is on it. As are Danah Boyd and Esther Dyson (official announcement is here). I haven’t seen the news elsewhere on my flist here yet, so thought I’d get the word out.

I don’t know how to feel about this just yet. I don’t know how much real influence they’ll have on SUP, and although I miss the bustle of LJ still, and would like to have some of the new features they’re turning out, I think I’d rather just sit tight and watch to see what happens. I wonder if this news will change the minds of people who have left LJ— all three of the people I mentioned as advisory board members are heavyweights as far as arguing for circumspect, non-restrictive policies and so on goes.

	Yes! I was intrigued when I heard danah boyd was getting involved as well, and Lawrence Lessig (! hadn't heard about him, but yes, another way big name). So, yeah. I'm not sure where to go with this information, other than to play the "wait and see" game.... (Reply to this) (Thread)

I'm going to be waiting and seeing as well-- but really, if it seems like they're going to have a good influence on LJ, I think I'm going to go back there. I've got lots of RL crap going on right now, so it won't be a hardship to wait for a bit. And this time, I'll be trying that mac-friendly backup thing so I don't have to start all over again.
